TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Bucknell University men's cross country team competed in the Garnet race at Florida State on Friday morning. Michael Donnelly turned out Bucknell's best individual performance, taking 194th (24:55.1) in the competitive field of over 300 runners and 40 teams.

The Bison qualified for the seeded race at the meet, facing elite competition for the second straight outing after taking part in the Paul Short Run two weeks prior. Northern Arizona, the defending national champion and winner of four of the past five titles, took first in the meet with 64 points. The Lumberjacks were followed by Colorado (128), Arkansas (128), BYU (131), and Notre Dame (203) in the top five. Bucknell placed 39th as a team in the meet with 1,093 points.
"The men made the seeded race, and we were very excited to compete against some of the best runners and teams in the country," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "Although it was a very tough situation for our men, I thought they handled it and proved they belonged in that race. Donnelly and O'Toole had very good races. We need more consistency from everyone. I thought our two first-years Harry Marson and Bobby Lynam ran well, and the meet was a great experience for our group."
Donnelly was followed by senior Brendan O'Toole (203rd, 24:58.4). Samuel Whittaker (238th, 25:20.4), Marson (250th, 25:31.2), and Ryan Miele (263rd, 25:39.7) rounded out Bucknell's scoring runners. Lynam (265th), Brendan Mellitt, and Owen Chase also competed for Bucknell on Friday.
Bucknell will also have a group of runners compete on Saturday at the Leopard Invitational, the final meet before the Patriot League Championships begin in a fortnight on October 31 at Lehigh.
