Bucknell Men's Cross Country Travels to Pre-Nationals/Leopard Invite on Friday and Saturday

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell University men's cross country team is set to travel to Tallahassee, Fla. for the FSU Invite/Pre-National Meet on Friday morning, hosted by Florida State. Another group of Bison will travel to the Leopard Invite hosted by Lafayette on Saturday. Tickets are $5.00 for general admission for Pre-Nationals.

"With what these student-athletes have gone through over the last year and a half with all of the seasons and many meets being canceled, we wanted to reward them with a nice trip to the national championship course," siad Head Coach Kevin Donner. "Our men were put in the pre-national race based on their season thus far, and we want to show that we belong and set ourselves up for the league championships in two weeks. Our ladies were put in the open race, and we are ready to show much improvement from last week's meet at Paul Short. Ramos ran at the NCAA Championships last spring, and seeing this course will put her at a great advantage should she make it again."

"There is also a lot at stake at Lafayette on Saturday," added Donner. "It's the last regular season meet of the year, and we have a deep team that will mix it up with some of the other A teams at this meet. It will also have a lot of influence on our Patriot League lineup for October 31."

Bucknell will compete in the Garnet race set for 8 a.m. on Friday. The field includes 39 of the top teams in the country.
As of Tuesday's rankings, five of the top ten teams in the country will be in the field. No. 1 Northern Arizona, No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 5 BYU, No. 7 Colorado, and No. 8 Arkansas will all be in attendance.
Bucknell returns to action after taking last weekend off, with the team last competing at the Paul Short Run on October 1.
Samuel Whittaker (89^th) was Bucknell's top finisher at that race, and was the only member of the Orange and Blue to break into the top 100 in the competitive field.
Bucknell finished 22^nd overall (653) in the field of 40 teams.
Michael Donnelly, Ryan Miele, Owen Chase, and Harry Marson were Bucknell's other scoring runners on the day, while Brendan O'Toole, Stephen Schousen, Brendan Mellitt, Noah Martin, and Peter Sorensen all took part in the Gold race.
Bucknell's lineup at Pre-Nationals will include Chase, Donnelly, Bobby Lynam, Marson, Mellitt, Miele, O'Toole, and Whittaker.
Tallahassee will also serve as the host site for this year's NCAA Championships hosted by the Seminoles.
Bucknell will also send runners to the Leopard Invite hosted by Lafayette that same day, a meet in which the Bison finished second in the field of four in 2019. Martin was Bucknell's top finisher at that meet, taking fifth overall (26:18.63). Ryan Miele (8^th) and Matt Cervon (11^th) also competed for Bucknell at the meet in 2019.
The meets this weekend mark the final tune up for the Bison before the Patriot League Championships hosted by Lehigh on Saturday, October 30.
