Alex Clarke Selected as Patriot League Midfielder of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior co-captain Alex Clarke was named the Patriot League Midfielder of the Week on Monday, after he scored the lone goal late in Saturday's 1-0 league victory over Colgate.

Clarke's big moment came in a pressure situation in the 79th minute of a scoreless game. In the aftermath of a heated sequence that saw players from both teams sent off, Clarke stepped to the penalty spot and rifled his shot into the top left corner.

It was Clarke's first goal of the season and third of his career, with all three coming against Patriot League opponents.

It was a big three points for the Bison, who vaulted into a tie for fifth place in the Patriot League standings. Bucknell is 2-2-1 in league play for seven points. The top six teams qualify for the Patriot League Tournament.

The Bison are back in action on Monday night at home against Syracuse, and then they travel to top-of-the-table Holy Cross on Saturday.
