LEWISBURG, Pa. – For the second time in her career Bucknell women's basketball senior Tessa Brugler has been named the Patriot League Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Brugler earns the honor after posting back-to-back double-doubles during a two-game weekend sweep of Lehigh.
Brugler was relentless in the rebounding department during the two victories, finishing the weekend with 33 total, including a career-high 19 boards in a 68-60 win at the Mountain Hawks on Saturday. The Nazareth, Pa. native came up big when it mattered most for the Bison as she knocked down both the game-tying and go-ahead free throws in the fourth quarter and finished with 11 points, two assists, a block and a steal.
Brugler scored in double figures for a fifth time this season in Sunday's 80-66 home win against Lehigh. She was 5-of-10 with 12 points, four assists, another block and 14 more rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season and seventh of her career. Brugler was also 7-of-8 at the foul line over the weekend.
The 19 rebounds Brugler grabbed on Saturday were the most by a Bucknell player since Lindsay Horbatuck pulled down the same amount vs. Cornell in 2013. With 10.8 rebounds per game this season, Brugler currently ranks second in the Patriot League and sits fifth in field goal percentage (.520).
The 6-0 Bison return to play this weekend with a pair of home games against Colgate in Sojka Pavilion. Both contests are scheduled to tip off at 4 p.m.
