WASHINGTON, D.C. – Bucknell's Will Yorke appeared on the final watch list for the 2020 Tewaaraton Award, which honors the top male and female collegiate lacrosse players in the United States.
Yorke was recognized after finishing the abbreviated 2020 campaign ranked third nationally in goals per game (4.17). The senior captain, who logged 31 points on 25 goals and six assists, was instrumental in the Bison's 5-1 start.
Yorke, who was also named Inside Lacrosse's Breakthrough Player of the Year, was on pace to break his previous career-high totals in goals (34) and points (45), set the year before. His signature performance came in Bucknell's 20-11 victory over Marist. With nine goals, he broke the school record and matched the Patriot League standard; his 11 points also equaled the Bison record.
Yorke was the Patriot League leader in goals per game and third in the Patriot League in points per game (5.17), a figure tied for 15th nationally. He netted at least a hat trick five times and logged at least five points three times. A two-time Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and USILA Team of the Week member, he was also recognized as US Lacrosse Player of the Week by US Lacrosse Magazine and the Prime Time Player of the Week by Inside Lacrosse following the Marist game.
The Tewaaraton Award annual ceremony that was scheduled for May 28 at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., will not be held, and no college awards will be presented in 2020.
