No. 23 Women's Water Polo Drops First Game of 2020 Against No. 20 Wagner

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The No. 23 Bucknell University women's water polo team dropped its first game of the season to No. 20 Wagner in its final game of the Bucknell Invitational on Sunday morning.
Bucknell falls to 6-1 overall, dropping its first game since an April 27, 2019 game against No. 15 Princeton in the CWPA semifinals.
After fast starts in the previous two games of the Bucknell Invite, the Bison found themselves trailing early on after the Seahawks scored the first four goals of the game. Bucknell pulled within two after Ally Furano scored off an assist by her sister Paige Furano, before a goal from Kali Hyham brought Bucknell to a 4-2 deficit. However, the Seahawks would score the next four goals through the rest of the first and the beginning of the second period in taking an 8-2 lead.
A goal by P. Furano off an assist by Nina Benson pulled Bucknell within five, 9-4, but the Seahawks went on one more run to take a 15-7 lead at the end of the third quarter en route to taking a 17-8 win.
Hyham scored three goals to lead the Bison, while A. Furano added two tallies. P. Furano scored and added three assists in the defeat.
The Bison will return to action for four games on Saturday and Sunday at the Mercyhurst Invite beginning with a matchup against Gannon on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
