UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. --Â The Bucknell University women's track and field team competed at Penn State for the second straight week at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge.Â
Results
"It was a solid effort on the women's side," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "Salisbury is running well in the 60, and I like our freshmen in the 400. Fischer got out much harder, and dropped her time down by almost a second. Forker got a nice PR and ECAC mark in the 800, and Ramos looked great in the mile. Ramos is starting to develop nicely as a distance runner. Sipe had a big throw in the shot put, which puts her high on our all-time list, and Lopes looked solid in the triple jump. I believe many of these athletes are set up nice for the next 2-3 weeks." Â
Â
Karly Forker earned a spot on Bucknell's all-time top ten and ECAC qualification in the 800 (2:13.68) after toppling her previous personal-best (2:15.05) that she set on the same track at the Penn State National Open in January of 2019. The sophomore now ranks ninth on Bucknell's all-time list, one place ahead of Bucknell distance great Christine Bendzinski (2:13.82).  Tara Lyons (8th, 2:16.73) also posted a solid time.     Â
Kaitlin Salisbury ran a season-best in the 60m dash in the preliminary round (7.59), the fastest time she has posted in the event since taking gold at the ECAC Championship (7.52) in March of 2019. The senior and school-record holder went on to finish fifth overall after a 7.61 in the finals. Salisbury also placed 14th in the long jump (17-6.75), and 13th in the triple jump (36-3).
In the 400, Valerie Fischer improved by nearly a full second (57.37) from her time one week ago at the Ashenfelter Indoor Track in taking eighth for the second consecutive meet. Fischer's time is just shy of the ECAC standard, and is just .11 from tying Amy Calvo for tenth on Bucknell's all-time list. Jessie Castellano (11th, 58.10) and Becca Rooney (12th, 58.63) also competed in the event.  Â
Ashlyn Ramos (9th, 5:01.62) ran just shy of an ECAC standard in the mile after running the event for the first time since her collegiate debut on December 1, 2018 at the Bison Opener.  In the 3000, Nora Bennett (4th, 10:12.42) added a top-five finish for the Bison.Â
In the field events, Alexandra Butz recorded a season-best (5-5.75) in the high jump, while also finishing just shy of her personal-best in the pole vault (11-7) in placing 16th. Samantha Lopes added a sixth-place showing for Bucknell in the triple jump (37-8.75), while Delia Sipe was fifth in the shot put (45-9.25). Daija Misler placed seventh in the weight throw (48-1.25), a new personal-best.Â
The Bison will now look ahead to the Doug Raymond Invitational hosted by Kent State on Friday, Feb. 14-Saturday, Feb. 15.Â
