Field Hockey Adds Two More to Incoming Freshman Class

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Head coach Jeremy Cook and the Bucknell field hockey team have announced the addition of two more incoming freshmen that will be joining the team this fall. Sydney Paganos and Gugulethu Sibanda bring the incoming class total to seven.
SYDNEY PAGANOS
STRIKER | 5'3" | ST. LOUIS, MO. | JOHN BURROUGHS SCHOOL
Lettered in both field hockey and soccer … 2019 team captain … three-time Metro League All-Conference selection … helped lead John Burroughs High School to 2019 state championship … scored 19 goals with seven assists … also played for AIM Field Hockey St. Louis.
Jeremy Cook on Sydney Paganos: "Sydney joins a young but experienced striker line, where work ethic and speed will push the group as she develops and learns our system. Her club team, AIM Field Hockey, has been really great for us lately with fellow incoming First Year Mia Fields and 2019 graduate Allie Christopher. We're excited to have another speedy striker!"
GUGULETHU SIBANDA
MIDFIELDER | 5'2'' | HARARE, ZIMBABWE | ARUNDEL SCHOOL
Member of the Zimbabwe U18A field hockey team … team captain for the Arundel School First Team … nominee for Most Promising Junior Player by Zimbabwe Hockey Association … Risely Award recipient for Sportswoman of the Year … took part in the Africa Cup of Nations to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as part of the Zimbabwe Ladies Field Hockey Team.
Jeremy Cook on Gugulethu Sibanda: "Gugu will join our midfield with a passion for our sport and will provide a fun spark to the group with her adventurous personality. Her international experience playing for her country will be a big asset to the group. We're all looking forward to getting her on board! Gugu comes to us out of the same high school as Jax Kateneczka, class of '09."
