Women's Swim & Dive's Vumbacco Earns PL Weekly Honors

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Bucknell's Sabrina Vumbacco was recognized as the Patriot League Female Swimmer of the Week for the first time in her career, the league office announced Tuesday morning.

Vumbacco was honored for her performance at the Navy Invite on Feb. 1. There, the first year won the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 16:38.65 good for third in school history; her 1,000 split time of 10:03.41 gave her the second spot in the Bison annals. In addition, she touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle.

Vumbacco is the second Bison to be tabbed as the Patriot League Female Swimmer of the Week, joining Maddie Hartigan. Hartigan captured the award on Dec. 10 for her performance at the Bucknell Invitational and on Jan. 21 for her role in Bucknell's victory over Boston College.

Vumbacco and the Bison return to action at the Patriot League Championships on Feb. 19-22 at Navy's Lejeune Hall.
