LEWISBURG, Pa. – Maggie Wyngowski was named the Bison Athlete of the Week for her role in the Bucknell women's swimming & diving team's runner-up showing at the Patriot League Championships.
Wyngowski won a gold medal in the 400 IM, posting a time of 4:15.26 that was nearly four seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Her time also bested her previous school record by over two seconds and met the NCAA 'B' standard.
In addition to her 400 IM gold, Wyngowski won a silver medal in Thursday's 200 IM and a bronze medal in Saturday's 200 breaststroke. Her time of 2:00.15 in the 200 IM broke a school record that had stood since 2014 by nearly two seconds. She is now a a five-time Patriot League medalist; in 2019 and 2018, she won a silver medal in the 400 IM.
The Bison, who wrapped up the four-day meet with 533 points, took second at the Patriot League Championships for the 12th time in program history and for the first time since the 2015 edition.
This was Wyngowski's third career Bison Athlete of the Week nod; she was recognized twice during the 2017-18 campaign. She is the second women's swimmer to be tabbed as the Bison Athlete of the Week this season, joining Maddie Hartigan, who was honored for her performance at December's Bucknell Invitational.
Wyngowski and the Bison are right back to work this week, attending the Navy Long Course Qualifier on Thursday, Feb. 27 and the ECAC Championships on Friday, Feb. 28 to Sunday, March 1. Both meets will be held at Navy's Lejeune Hall, the site of this year's Patriot League Championships.
