Women's Tennis Collects 7-0 Win Over La Salle

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Bucknell women's tennis improved to 4-2 Friday evening with a 7-0 defeat of La Salle at the Central PA Tennis Center. The Bison swept in both singles and doubles matches to collect their third victory in a row.
While several spots were left vacant by La Salle, which helped the Bison in the final score, Bucknell took care of business against the Explorers in the top four singles spots and in both doubles matches played. Sophomore Daniela Bellini stayed undefeated in the top singles spot, and Paige Leavy and Dax Seidlin remained unbeaten in number one doubles.
Bellini won her third straight match in number one singles by defeating La Salle senior Ali Snyder 7-5, 6-2. Bellini fought her way back from a 5-1 deficit in the first set and finished strong in the second during her second weekend of spring competition.
Seidlin continued to impress during her freshman campaign as she moved to 4-2 win a 6-1, 6-3 win in the number two singles spot.
Also impressive was a three-set victory by Jill Auteri, who picked up her third spring singles win with a 6-3, 2-6, 13-11 decision over junior Aleks Nikolic. In the fourth spot, Rachel Carroll earned her second victory with a clean 6-0, 6-0 score.
Seidlin and Leavy improved to 6-0 in doubles with a 6-3 win in the top spot, and Sofia Ayuso and Bellini won 6-1 as well.
Bucknell returns to play on Sunday and will be looking for a fourth straight win during a 1 p.m. match against Marist.
