LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell head football coach Dave Cecchini announced Tuesday the additions of Ryan Redd and Jordan Johnson to his staff.
Wide receivers coach Keith Larson was also elevated to special teams coordinator. Larson, who will continue to work with the Bison wide receivers, previously served as special teams coordinator during his time at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In his first season at Bucknell, he mentored Brandon Sanders, who became the first Bison offensive skill position player to make the All-Patriot League First Team since 2014.
Redd, who will coach the Bucknell defensive backs, spent the 2019 campaign as a defensive assistant at Georgetown College. Before his stint with the Tigers, he was the defensive coordinator at North Mecklenburg High School from 2017 to 2018.
Redd broke into the collegiate coaching ranks as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh in 2016. There, he worked with the special teams and running backs. That season, the Panthers went 8-5, ultimately earning a spot in the Pinstripe Bowl against Northwestern University.
Redd served as a wide receivers and linebackers coach at Mooresville High School from 2011 to 2015. He graduated in 2006 from Miami University of Ohio with a degree in counseling and obtained his master's degree in clinical education and counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2013.
Johnson, who will coach the Bucknell running backs, spent the 2019 campaign in the same role at Marist College. During his collegiate playing days, he was a record-breaking running back at the University at Buffalo from 2012 to 2016. At the time of his graduation with a degree in sociology, he held the school record in single-game rushing yards (282) and was ranked among the program leaders in career yards per carry (5.2, 4th) and career rushing yards (2,212, 6th).
As a senior, Johnson made the All-MAC Third Team after rushing for 1,040 yards. He then signed a free-agent contract with the Buffalo Bills. He appeared in all four of Buffalo's preseason games, scoring one touchdown.

Following his time with the Bills, Johnson began his coaching career at Erie Community College in 2017. There, he helped the running backs eclipse 1,500 yards; his top two rushers ultimately signed with NCAA Division I and Division II programs. In 2018, he coached an all-conference returner at Fort Valley State University.
In high school, Johnson was a two-time New York State Class A Player of the Year. A quarterback, he led Sweet Home High School to a 33-2 record and a state championship.
