LEWISBURG, Pa. – Women's basketball junior guard Abby Kapp has been named Bison Athlete of the Week for the second time in her career following a pair of outstanding performances in wins over American and Lehigh. Kapp set career highs in both games and helped the Bison take sole possession of first place in Patriot League standings.
Kapp finished the week 10-of-15 (67%) from beyond the arc and hauled in 10 rebounds. The Barto, Pa. native also totaled eight assists and averaged 18.5 points per game.
In Saturday's 71-50 road win over Lehigh, Kapp scored a career-high 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Kapp made 6-of-8 (75%) attempts from beyond the arc, which are the most 3-pointers a Bucknell player has made since March 6 of last season. Kapp was 3-for-4 from the arc in both halves and provided a block and a steal. She surpassed previous highs of 19 points and five made triples.
Kapp made 4-of-7 (57%) from 3-point range in Wednesday's 68-43 win over American, totaling 14 points for the game. She also recorded a career-best six assists and grabbed four boards. Kapp was one of three Bison to score in double-figures and played a team-high 33 minutes.
11 times this season Kapp has scored in double-figures, and she's made three or more 3-pointers in 11 games as well. She ranks first in the Patriot League with 46 on the season. Now with 144 made triples in her career, Kapp sits fifth in program history and is seven away from moving into the fourth spot as a junior.
Kapp and the Bison have won all six Patriot League contests by double-digits and have come out on top in 11 of the last 12 games. Bucknell sports the league's best scoring margin and is second in 3-pointers made per game (7.0).
Bucknell is back in Sojka Pavilion on Wednesday, Jan. 20 to host Colgate at 6 p.m.
