CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Bryant Boswell represented the Bucknell men's lacrosse team on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team, the league office announced Monday morning.
A 2019 All-Patriot League Second Team defender, Boswell earned his first career spot on the preseason squad. He was among 16 student-athletes honored in 2020.
A year ago, Boswell started all 15 games, finishing third among Bison in ground balls (38) and caused turnovers (16). He logged season-high totals in both ground balls (6) and caused turnovers (3) in the Patriot League quarterfinals at Boston University.
Boswell has appeared in all 30 of Bucknell's games during his time in Lewisburg to date. A valuable faceoff wing, he primarily played long-stick defensive midfielder as a freshman. He enters his junior season with 80 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers.
In addition, Bucknell was selected to tie for sixth in the Patriot League based on a vote by the league's head coaches and sports information directors. Loyola, Army and Lehigh were tabbed as the top-three teams, with all three receiving first-place votes.
The Bison begin their 2020 campaign with a game against Furman in Durham, N.C. on Saturday, Feb. 1. Their first home game will take place on Saturday, Feb. 15 against Sacred Heart. The following week after their home opener, they will host Ohio State for the first time since 2010. Their complete schedule can be viewed here.
Bucknell went 6-9 (4-4 Patriot League) in 2019, closing the regular-season on a four-game winning streak to clinch its 13th Patriot League Tournament berth in the past 15 seasons. The Bison graduated 12 seniors following that campaign, including four-year starting goalie Christian Klipstein and four-year primary faceoff specialist Jarett Witzal. In addition, they will need to replace their top midfield line of Ryan Durkin, Reed Malas and Tom Smith.
