LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell women's tennis found success on the opening day of the Bucknell Invitational to the tune of a 7-1 record in singles and 3-1 in doubles. Also advancing in A singles was Cayla Koch. Koch defeated Niagara's Olga Donchu 6-4, 6-4. The junior also prospered alongside freshman Dax Seidlin in A doubles by beating a pair from Howard 6-2.
Seidlin will represent the Bison in the B singles semifinals tomorrow following a 7-5, 6-2 defeat of Howard's Hana El Sharif in her first collegiate tennis action.
Senior Jill Auteri and junior Rachel Carroll each took care of business in C singles, and with wins tomorrow, have an opportunity to face one another in the C singles championship.
Sofia Ayuso advanced to the semifinals of the D singles bracket with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Alexandra Whitney of Niagara, and was mirrored by freshman Chloe Zilkha, who also advanced out of the quarterfinal round.
