Setting the Scene

Teams: Bucknell, Howard, Niagara, Saint Francis
About the Bison
• The Bison open their fall season by hosting the Bucknell Fall Invite on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It is the first of two home events this fall. The other will be the Bison Invite on Sept. 21-23.
• Bucknell was 12-13 in the spring, including a 5-3 record in Patriot League play.
• The Bison won three titles during the Bucknell Fall Invite last fall, but return just three members of the 2018-19 roster.
• Sophomore Cooper Bradshaw was a winner in the Flight 2 doubles at the Invite. Bradshaw finished the year 13-5 in doubles play while posting a 6-7 record in singles.
• Another returner from last season, sophomore Ryan Jurist, advanced to the semifinal in Flight 2 singles. Jurist went 17-12 in singles last season, including a 6-2 record in Patriot League matches.
• Junior Marwan Abaza joined the Bison during the spring season and finished 9-8 in singles while playing primarily on court three. Abaza ended the season with a five-match winning streak.
• The Bison welcome four freshmen to the roster this season, as well as sophomore Dave Carvalho, who transferred from Florida Atlantic.
Scouting the Opponents
• Howard finished 1-13 last season, winning a 4-1 contest vs. Coppin State.
• Niagara finished 2-16 last season, with a 1-5 record within the MAAC.
• Saint Francis did not compete in men's tennis last year. The team finished 8-13 in 2018 with a 4-1 record in the NEC.
