Named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, Rookie, and Bison Athlete of the Week
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Bucknell men's soccer forward Eddie Perez-Pelaez has earned a trio of accolades after a stellar debut to his collegiate career.
The freshman earned Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, and Bison Athlete of the Week after helping the Bison to a 1-1 record on the opening weekend.
The native of New York, N.Y. netted the equalizing goal in Bucknell's 2-1 loss to Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday before scoring a brace in Bucknell's 4-1 win over Canisius on Sunday. Perez-Pelaez has proven to be an efficient finisher in his young career, scoring on three of his four total shots to date.
Perez-Pelaez played a total of 157 of a possible 180 minutes at the forward spot, and has also proven to be an aerial threat as two of his goals were headed in off crosses. His two-goal effort helped spark the most goals in a game by the Bison since a 7-0 win over Howard on Oct. 11, 2016. The last Bison to score twice in a game was current teammate Matt Thorsheim, who netted twice in a 2-1 win over Lehigh on Oct. 5, 2017.
The Bison will begin a run of three straight home games when they host Mount St. Mary's on Friday evening at Emmitt Field. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
