Women's Tennis Sees Second Weekend of Action At Navy Invitational

Setting the Scene

Where: Annapolis, Md.
Teams: Bucknell, Binghamton, Fairleigh Dickinson, Howard, Lehigh, Monmouth, Navy, Niagara, St. Bonaventure
About the Bison
• The Bison opened the season last weekend by hosting the Bucknell Invitational. Several Bison advanced to championship rounds in an impressive first showing under head  coach Tammy Cecchini.
• Sophomore Daniela Bellini picked up where she left off last season, advancing to the championship of the A singles bracket, where she would have faced fellow Bison Cayla  Koch.
• Winning B singles was freshman Dax Seidlin. Seidlin claimed a 6-0, 6-3 win over Howard in an impressive collegiate debut. Meanwhile, senior Jill Auteri placed second in C singles.
• Bucknell wrapped up a third singles title in the D bracket with Sofia Ayuso claiming a 6-4, 6-1 win over Howard.
• Freshman Maddie Rippa and junior Rachel Carroll shared the third place finish in C singles.
• Bucknell won both doubles championships over the weekend. Seidlin and Koch teamed up to take a 6-4 victory over a duo from Saint Francis in the top bracket, and Bellini and  Ayuso won 6-2 over Saint Francis in B doubles.
Scouting the Opponents
• Binghamton will see its first action of the fall season at the Bill & Sandra Moore Invitational. The Bearcats went 4-20 in the spring.
• Fairleigh Dickinson kicked off the season at the Siena Invite last weekend. The Knights won four of six flights at the Invite following a 14-9 record in the spring season.
• Howard was a participant at the Bucknell Invitational last weekend and placed second in a pair of flights. Howard finished 5-13 in the spring.
• Lehigh begins its 2019 fall season at the Bill & Sandra Moore Invitational this weekend. The Mountain Hawks went 8-11 in the spring, including a 4-3 win over Bucknell in April.
• Monmouth also begins its fall season this weekend following a 3-18 record in the spring.
• Navy has yet to compete this season after going 23-9 in the spring. Navy defeated Bucknell 6-1 last season on the way to a semifinal appearance in the Patriot League tournament.
• St. Bonaventure begins its fall season this weekend. The Bonnies went 8-19 last season, including a 6-1 loss to Bucknell.
