HALAWA, Hawaii – Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame member Brad Myers was recognized by the Los Angeles Rams during their game against the Dallas Cowboys at Aloha Stadium in Hawaii this Saturday.
Myers, a decorated halfback who helped lead the 1951 Bison football team to a 9-0 record and No. 20 national ranking by rushing for over 1,000 yards, played five years in the National Football League for the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles. Myers, who will celebrate his 90th birthday in February 2020, is one of the oldest living former Rams and currently resides in Mākaha, Oahu with his wife, Nancy Smyth-Myers.
In addition, Myers was interviewed by Kathy Muneno and Marisa Yamane of KHON2 for a "Kupuna Life" featurette, which aired three times on Thursday.
An All-Pennsylvania, All-East and honorable mention All-America halfback, Myers graduated in 1953 with school records in career rushing yards (2,622) and career 100-yard games (13). His records stood until the early 1990s. One of the "Touchdown Twins" along with Burt Talmadge, who also rushed for over 1,000 yards, he helped the 1951 team set school records in team rushing yards (2,909) and average yards per game (323.2) that still stand today. In addition, Myers was selected to play in the Blue-Gray Game in Birmingham, Ala. and became the first Lancaster, Pa., native to play in the NFL. He was inducted into the Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame in 1980.
