LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Former Bucknell men's soccer standout goalkeeper Mike Lansing '15 made his league debut while winning Man of the Match honors for AC Horsens in the Danish Superliga on Sunday as the league opened up its 2019-2020 campaign this past weekend. The appearance was the first for Lansing in league play in the Danish top division of soccer. AC Horsens, located in Horsens, Denmark, is located on the East Coast of the country in the Jutland region, roughly 90 miles north of the German border.
Lansing was voted Man of the Match despite AC Horsens suffering a 3-0 defeat on the opening day of action to FC Nordsjælland. The Randolph, N.J. native stopped seven of the ten shots on goal that he faced, including an impressive kick save in the 77th minute.
Lansing ranks sixth in Bucknell history in career shutouts with 16, despite splitting minutes during his junior and senior campaigns. He earned the No. 1 spot in goal during his freshman year, posting a 0.86 goals allowed average and an .843 save percentage, both which ranked first in the Patriot League.
In 2013 as a sophomore, Lansing earned Second Team All-Patriot League Honors after posting a 10-6-1 record in goal and eight shutouts, two shy of the program record. He was also a member of the 2014 team that captured the Patriot League Conference Tournament crown.
After graduating Bucknell in 2015, Lansing went on to sign a deal with Veije Boldklub in the Danish second tier. He then went on to play at Aalborg BK in the Danish Superliga, making two Danish Cup appearances with two clean sheets, including a 1-0 quarterfinal win over his current team AC Horsens on October 31, 2018.
Fellow '15 graduate Chris Thorsheim, the older brother of rising junior Matt Thorsheim, also plies his trade in Denmark for Nykobing FC in the Danish second division. Thorsheim has made 67 career appearances for the team, scoring two goals and adding two assists as a defender.
Mayowa Alli '14 also has spent time in Denmark professionally, making 15 combined appearances in the second and third divisions.
Conor O'Brien '09 also enjoyed a successful career in Denmark, where he quickly moved to the top division beginning with a transfer to SØnderjyskE for two seasons before earning a move to Nordsjælland for the 2013 campaign. As a member of Nordsjælland, he earned an appearance in the UEFA Champions League qualifying round. O'Brien also made 55 appearances for AC Horsens from 2015-17, scoring twice as a midfielder.
Lansing and AC Horsens will play their next league contest at Silkeborg IF on Sunday, July 21.
