CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Following his nine-point outing against Lafayette, Alston Tarry was tabbed as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the first time in his career.
Tarry was sensational for the Bucknell men's lacrosse team, setting new career highs in points, goals (5) and assists (4). Entering the Bison's 17-4 rout of the Leopards, the freshman's career-high total in points was four, set with a four-goal effort at Navy on March 2.
Bucknell stormed out to a 6-1 lead in the first half, with Tarry (3g-2a) factoring into all but one of those goals. He added two goals and two helpers in the second half before being pulled early in the fourth quarter for the Bison's second-string attackers.
Tarry now ranks second on the team to junior Will Yorke in both goals (24) and points (32). He is currently riding a 10-game goal streak and found the back of the net eight times in the past two games.
Tarry is the second Bison to garner weekly accolades from the Patriot League this season. Senior Jarett Witzal was twice voted as the Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week, first on Feb. 11 for his role in Bucknell's 9-6 victory over Bryant and then on April 1 after winning 20 faceoffs against No. 17/16 Army West Point.
Tarry and the Bison return to action on Saturday, April 20 at noon by taking on Lehigh in a game that will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
