Bison Take First-Round Lead at Hartford Hawks Invitational

FIRST-ROUND RESULTS
BLOOMFIELD, Conn. -- Four Bucknell players posted rounds in the 70s, led by a 5-over-par 77 from Meredith Langs, and the Bison women's golf team grabbed a commanding lead after 18 holes of the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Tumble Brook Country Club.
Bucknell compiled a 313 team score to easily outdistance the other two full squads in the field. Fairfield opened with a 336, followed by Hartford with a 337. Quinnipiac also has three individuals entered in this small-field event.
Bucknell's four counting players combined for only two holes worse than bogey all day. Langs made nine straight pars during one stretch and had 13 in her round. Langs is tied for second place individually, two shots behind Hartford's Maria Loza. Fairfield's Taylor Rogers also shot 77.
A host of Bison are just behind Langs. Casey Morrow followed with a 78, and Katie Childers and Sally Sohn both shot 79. Sohn made a team-high two birdies on the day and played her final five holes in 2-under.
The Bison tossed out an 85 from Erin Holmes, and Morgan Hennessy and Sun Woo Jeon both posted 80s while playing as individuals.
The second and final round gets underway on Sunday morning.
