Malas has been a key midfielder for the Bison since arriving in Lewisburg. Over the past three seasons, he has started all 33 of Bucknell's games. In 2018, he enjoyed a breakout year, placing fourth on the team with 34 points (22g-12a) while helping the Bison capture a share of the Patriot League regular-season title and achieve a top-10 national ranking. For his efforts, he earned All-Patriot League Second Team accolades for the first time in his career. Malas currently boasts 74 points (45g-29a) in 46 career games.
Malas has excelled in the classroom during his time at Bucknell. A two-time Academic All-Patriot League Team honoree, he holds a cumulative grade point average of 3.96. Malas, who has made the Bucknell Dean's List every semester to date, is working towards a degree in accounting & financial management and is on pace to graduate in May 2019.
Malas has interned for Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., CVCCredit Partners and Morgan Stanley. This past summer, he served as an analyst in Deutsche Bank Securities' Healthcare Investment Banking Group, for which he developed a case study on a prospective acquisition of a healthcare company.
In his hometown of Mamaroneck, New York, Malas is heavily involved in the youth lacrosse community. Through the years, he has volunteered with multiple youth programs and given lessons. In addition, as a member of the Bucknell men's lacrosse team, Malas is involved with Team IMPACT and gives anti-bullying lectures at local elementary schools.
NCAA Division I seniors who have notable achievements in four areas—community, classroom, character and competition—are eligible for this award. The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists in March. From those 10 finalists, media members, coaches and fans will choose the Senior CLASS Award® winner.
