WEST POINT, N.Y. – Bucknell men's tennis opened Patriot League play with a pair of matches at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center in West Point on Friday. The Bison opened with a 4-1 loss to Army West Point before defeating Holy Cross by a 4-0 score.
The Bison moved their record to 6-10 overall and 1-1 in the Patriot League. They will host Morgan State on Friday, March 29.

Bucknell rolled to a shutout win in its second match of the day as it stayed unbeaten at 13-0 in the all-time series with Holy Cross.
"The team rebounded nicely against a much-improved Holy Cross team," Bucknell head coach Bruce Myers said. "I was happy with out effort and our level of fitness."
The Bison won both completed doubles matches and were about to win the third before play stopped because the point was clinched. Max McDonald and Marwan Abaza were 6-2 winners on court one, while Cooper Bradshaw and Ethan Jacobs won by the same score on court three.
Jacobs and Abaza went on to add singles victories. Jacobs beat Will Chen, 6-3, 6-0, in a battle of freshmen on court one. Abaza defeated Matthew Slowinski, 6-2, 6-0, on court three.
Ryan Jurist added a third singles victory for Bucknell, beating Peter Campito, 6-3, 6-0 on court one.

In a match that was much closer than the final score indicated, Bucknell dropped their league opener by a 4-1 score to Army West Point at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
"That was a really solid effort while playing Army at its indoor facility and without our No. 3 player due to illness," Myers said. "It shows how far we've come in the last two weeks of training."
The Bison just missed getting the doubles point, falling 7-5 on court two. They were leading in both unfinished singles matches. If they could have pulled off the win, it would have been just the fourth Bucknell victory in a series that includes 36 matches.
Bucknell had a chance at the doubles point thanks to a 7-5 win by Jacobs and Cooper Bradshaw on court three.
Andrei Vitiuc picked up Bucknell's point with a singles win. The senior bumped up to the third spot in the lineup and defeated David Mitchell by 6-2, 6-3 scores.
Jacobs was leading 4-3 in the third set of his match on court one before play was halted, while Max McDonald was up 5-4 in the third set of his match on court two.
Army West Point improved to 6-12 overall and 1-0 in the Patriot League.
