ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Emma Hadley won a silver medal in the 100 backstroke to help the Bucknell women's swimming & diving team vault to third at the EIWA Championships, which are being held at Navy's Lejeune Hall.
Hadley, who won the 2017 ECAC title in this event, also teamed with Mary Weinstein, Megan Barpoulis and Megan Koczur to capture bronze in the 200 medley relay. Those performances played a large role in propelling the Bison up five spots in the team standings. With 216 points, they are slotted behind Navy (497.5) and Army West Point (397), the only other teams that have posted at least 200 points to date.
Not to be outdone, Maddie Hartigan placed fourth in the 200 freestyle while Emily Gorham, Maura McManus, Lindsey Bloom and Isabella Smith teamed for a fifth-place effort in the 800 freestyle.
Bucknell's divers also racked up points, with Jessica Hurlburt earning a bronze medal on the 1-meter board and Alaina Schumann (7th) and Paige Schoelkopf (8th) also finishing in the top 10.
Freshman Alexis Faria won the 100 butterfly's consolation finals, clocking the third-fastest time (55.65) in school history. Classmate Caroline Mayk finished three spots behind.
In the 400 IM, Courtney Wolfgang took 11th while Kelly Cattano went 13th. Mary Weinstein (12th, 100 breaststroke), Meghan Taner (13th, 100 backstroke) and Meagan Hathway (16th, 200 freestye) rounded out Bucknell's Saturday finalists.
