Men's Track and Field Qualifies for Several Finals on Saturday at IC4As

BOSTON, Mass.—The Bucknell University men's track and field team posted several strong performances at the IC4A Championships on Saturday.
"We got athletes to the finals in the 60, 200 and 500, so our sprinters looked good," said head coach Kevin Donner. "Our 4 x 400 Relay and DMR both ran well and barely missed the finals. Ou r 4 x 800 had a classic survive and advance mentality as I used Robert Dessoye, Brett Zatlin, Nick Pacelli and Scott Gulizio in their open events but also had them run the 4 x800. I thought they all doubled well in spite of just a 90-minute rest. We should be in pretty good shape to put some points on the board tomorrow with our finalists on the track plus some of our field athletes being in action."
Jeff Brown, the Patriot League Champion in the 60, qualified for Sunday's final in the 60 with a time of 6.88 and just missed out on qualifying in the 200.
Billy Melchionni qualified for the finals in the 200 after running a prelim time of 21.73.
Alex Dessoye posted a top-ten program mark in the 500, qualifying for finals with a time of 1:04.02 to place sixth on Bucknell's top ten list and finish just ahead of his previous personal-best of 1:04.11.
The 4x800 meter relay team of Robert Dessoye, Brett Zatlin, Nick Pacelli, and Scott Gulizio qualified for the finals after running a time of 7:39.20.
The distance medley relay team of Drew Dorflinger, Alex Dessoye, Owen Chase, and Brendan McGill posted a time of 10:04.17 to narrowly miss out on qualifying for finals.
In the 4x400, Steve Rizio, Kevin Boyle, Matthew Barton, and Brendan Bodisch finished in 12th after running a time of 3:18.60.
Micah Sims placed 16th in the long jump with a leap of 21-9, while C.J. Falcioni placed 13th in the weight throw after a toss of 54-5.5.
Zatlin (26th, 800), Robert Dessoye (31st, 800), Scott Gulizio (34th, 800) Owen Concaugh (35th, 800), and Nick Pacelli (12th, 1000), rounded out the competitors for the Bison on Saturday.
Bucknell will conclude the IC4A Championships on Sunday.
