Women's Water Polo Drops Game at No. 15 Long Beach State

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Bucknell University women's water polo team dropped a Thursday evening contest against No. 15 Long Beach State, 15-6.
Bucknell falls to 14-7 with the loss.
The 15th ranked 49ers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, threatening to shut the Bison out for the first period before Ally Furano, the reigning CWPA Offensive Player of the Week, scored on an assist by Sarah Mooney.
The 49ers answered with a goal of their own at the 7:08 mark in the second to restore the three-goal advantage before Emily Konishi found the back of the cage on an assist from A. Furano at the 4:44 mark in the second period. The score remained that way until the 1:06 mark on a goal from LBSU's Annabel Harman to give the 49ers a 5-2 lead at the break.
The 4-2 deficit proved the be the closest the Bison would get, as Long Beach State used six goals in the third quarter to take an 11-4 lead, including a goal with just four seconds left on the powerplay.
Long Beach State used four more goals in the fourth to take a 15-6 win.
A. Furano continued her strong form, posting four goals and two assists to play a part in all six of Bucknell's goals in the game. Emily Konishi added the other two strikes for the Bison.
Georgia Lewis made four saves in the cage for Bucknell.
