LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell records fell in three events on the opening night of the Patriot League Swimming & Diving Championships, held at Kinney Natatorium.
The women's team is currently in second place with 64 points while the men's team stands fourth with 80 points. On both sides, Navy is in the lead.
The Bison got out to a strong start, with the women's (1:42.39) and the men's (1:29.19) 200 medley relay teams both taking third behind school-record times. Later in the evening, the women's 800 freestyle relay team captured Patriot League bronze with a time of 7:18.40, nearly four seconds faster than the previous Bucknell standard.
The men's 800 freestyle relay team placed fifth with a time of 6:41.00, good for ninth in the Bison annals. Both of Bucknell's men's divers scored on the 3-meter board, with Garrett Sommer taking sixth and freshman Will Cadwallader placing 10th; Sommer's placement was two spots higher than his previous Patriot League Championship best, set last year on the 1-meter board.
