Men's Tennis Closes Four-Match Weekend with Win Over Sacred Heart

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Bucknell men's tennis wrapped up a 3-1 weekend with a 4-0 win over Sacred Heart at the Yale Tennis Courts on Sunday. It was the Bison's second match of the day, which also included a 4-2 loss at UConn earlier that morning.

"I was proud of the guys and their effort all weekend," Bucknell head coach Bruce Myers said. "To go 3-1 with four matches in three days, all on the road, really shows their commitment and level of improvement in two weeks."

Bucknell has won four of its last five matches to improve to 4-5 on the season. Up next for the Bison is a match at Drexel on Friday, March 1.

"We have some time to grow and improve before our next matches," Myers said.

Bucknell 4, Sacred Heart 0
Ethan Jacobs won in singles and doubles to lead Bucknell to the shutout win over Sacred Heart in the second match of the day for the Bison.

Jacobs was a 6-1, 6-4 winner over Seiji Hosokawa, who has been in the top spot for Sacred Heart all season. His doubles victory came on court one while teaming with Andrei Vitiuc.

Also posting a doubles victory for Bucknell were Alex Pedrazzini and Max Garramone on court two.

Adding singles wins for the Bison were Drew Krantz, 6-2, 6-3, on court four, and Ryan Jurist, 6-2, 6-0, on court five.

Krantz and Jurist each had two singles wins on the day as they beat their opponents against UConn in the morning match.

Krantz beat Hank Hill, 6-3, 6-3 on court three, while Jurist defeated Jack McLister, 6-2, 6-4 on court four.

Alex Pedrazzini was nearing a victory in his match before play was halted. He led 6-3, 4-3, on court six.

"Special acknowledgement to the guys who played three or four matches – Ryan Jurist, Drew Krantz, Max McDonald, and Max Garramone," Myers said. "It was great to have alumni at all of our matches, as well."
