HERSHEY, Pa. – Bucknell women's tennis remained undefeated with a 7-0 win over La Salle on Friday evening at the Hershey Racquet Club. The Bison didn't drop a set in either singles or doubles as they improved to 5-0 with the non-conference victory.
The Bison, who are 5-0 for the first time since 2005, also have two players unbeaten in singles this spring. Both Cayla Koch and Sofia Ayuso upped their records to 5-0.
Koch cruised to a straight-sets victory, 6-3, 6-2, over Ali Snyder on court two. Ayuso played a shortened match and defeated Jazmin Walle, 8-3, on court five.
After sweeping the doubles matches, Bucknell clinched the team victory with three straight singles wins. Freshman Daniela Bellini finished first, downing her opponent, 6-0, 6-2, on court one. Mishi Papich and Paige Leavy followed with straight-set wins on courts four and three, respectively.
Jill Auteri wasted little time on court six, coming out on top by 6-2, 6-1 scores.
Bucknell had two doubles teams improve to 4-1 during the spring season. Bellini and Ayuso did so by a 6-3 score on court two, while Auteri and Papich were 6-2 winners on court three. Leavy and Koch moved their record to 3-2 with a 6-4 triumph on court one.
