WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Bucknell women's tennis kept its unbeaten record intact Friday, improving to 6-0 with a 5-2 win over Saint Francis at the Central PA Tennis Center.
"After losing to Saint Francis last year, it felt good to get this win," Bucknell head coach Rebecca Helt said. "We played with steady energy and focus today."
The Bison are 6-0 for the first time since the 2005 season. They already have wins over teams from three different conferences, posting three over Atlantic 10 teams, two against the MAAC, and one against an NEC opponent.
Sofia Ayuso remained undefeated in singles this spring, upping her record to 6-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory on court five. She is 16-5 over the fall and spring seasons combined.
Paige Leavy had the toughest match of the day for the Bison, edging Raksha Bode in three sets, 7-6, 5-7, 10-7. Leavy improved to 5-1.
Daniela Bellini was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Laura Gutierrez on court one.
Leavy and Cayla Koch continued their successful spring season in doubles, moving their record to 4-2 with a 6-1 win on court one.
Bucknell received forfeits on court six in singles and court three in doubles.
The Bison are back on the courts Saturday with a 2 p.m. match against Marist at the Northwood Racquet Club.
