Bison Volleyball Downed at American

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Bucknell volleyball team dropped a three-set verdict at American on Saturday, with the Eagles prevailing 25-21, 25-14, 25-21. Anna Carroll led the Bison with nine kills, while Sophie Bullard and Lisa Zoch added seven apiece.
Zeynep Uzen led three players in double figures with 13 kills for the Eagles, who improved to improved to 10-7 overall and 3-1 in the Patriot League. The Bison fell to 12-4, 1-3.
Bullard paced Bucknell with eight digs, followed by seven each from Carroll and Brooke Stark. Emma Buchanan had a team-high five blocks, and Kelsey O'Loughlin added 29 assists, three service aces and five digs.
The Bison hit .187 for the match, while the Eagles hit .327. Helena Elbaek added 11 kills for American, followed y Aleksandra Sochacka with 10.
"It is always tough playing on the road," said head coach Anna Allison, whose team forced a fifth set after trailing 2-0 one night earlier at Loyola. "We traded momentum with Loyola and did a good job fighting back. We did the same thing against a very good American team today, unfortunately we did not finish the weekend like we had hoped. We have a lot of work to do this week in practice as we continue to make progress in the Patriot League."
The Bison return home for a pair of Patriot League matches next weekend. Army comes to Davis Gym on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by Holy Cross on Saturday at 3 p.m.
