Bison Golfers Mid-Pack at Lehigh Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Low scores were hard to come by on day one of the Lehigh Invitational, and the Bucknell men's golf team opened with a 315 team total to sit in a tie for eighth place. Chris Tanabe led the Bison with a 77 on Friday at Saucon Valley Country Club.

Playing in breezy conditions on a lengthy, 7,091-yard track, Rider was the only team in the field of 14 to break 300. The Broncs shot a 10-over-par 298, good for a three-shot lead over Holy Cross, four over Lafayette, and five over Army West Point.

Holy Cross' Harrison Thayer (-3) and Rider's Austin Devereaux (-1) were the only two of the 75 players in the field to break par in round one.

Tanabe is tied for 16th place after his opening 77. Blake Wisdom followed with a 78, Jack Gardner shot 79, and Peter Bradbeer and Jackson Bussell both shot 81.

The second and final round gets underway on Saturday morning. The Bison will be looking for a repeat of last year at the Lehigh Invitational, when they opened with a 312 but moved up from 12th place to fourth with a 298 in round two.
