About the Bison
- Bucknell wraps up its 2019 fall season at the Lehigh Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Six of the eight Patriot League men's golf teams will be in the field this week.
- Bucknell is coming off a third-place finish at the Bucknell Invitational last weekend. The Bison held the lead after the first round, but they fell back to third after some dropped shots late in the final round.
- It has been a strong fall for Bucknell, with three second-place finishes, a third and a fourth among the team's five events thus far. The Bison have a 288.7 team scoring average, with a low of 279 at the Dartmouth Invitational.
- Peter Bradbeer, the team's lone senior, tied for second place last week with a 140 total over 36 holes (69-71). Chris Tanabe (T-8th) also had a top-ten finish, his third of the season.
- Tanabe leads the Bison with a 71.7 average, including six sub-par rounds among his 13 rounds played this fall.
- Freshman Blake Wisdom has a 72.9 average, followed by Bradbeer (73.4), Jason Lohwater (73.5), Jack Gardner (73.6), Jackson Bussell (74.9), Dylan Ford (75.5) and Josh Holtschlag (75.7).
- Head coach Mike Binney will send out Bradbeer, Tanabe, Wisdom, Gardner and Bussell this week, with Holtschlag playing as an individual. Three of Bucknell's five starters – Wisdom, Gardner and Bussell – are freshmen.
- Bucknell has played very well at the Lehigh Invitational in recent years. Bucknell won this event in both 2015 and 2016, before finishing second and fourth in the last two seasons.
- In 2015, Bucknell ran away with the Lehigh Invitational, winning by 14 strokes over the runner-up Mountain Hawks. A year later, Bucknell and Lehigh were tied after 36 holes with 609 strokes apiece. The Bison then holed four pars on the sudden-death playoff hole to capture the tournament for the second year in a row.
- Bucknell also won the Lehigh Invitational in September of 1974.Â
- Last year, the Bison sat in 12th place after a first-round 312, but they vaulted all the way up to fourth with a final-round 298. Peter Bradbeer (78-75) was the low Bison in T-18th place.
