FINAL RESULTS
LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's golf team experienced a tough final round at its annual fall tournament on Monday, and the Bison dipped to a third-place finish after starting the day in the lead. Still, the Bison continued their overall strong fall season, with top-four finishes in all five events thus far.
Bucknell posted a 281 team score in Sunday's first round, which was good for a two-shot advantage over Holy Cross. The Bison started slowly on Monday and dropped out of first place, only to regain a small advantage with some strong play in the middle part of the round. But some costly bogeys at 17 and 18 allowed Colgate and Detroit to pass them down the stretch.
The Bison settled for a 294 in the second round for a 575 total. Colgate (289-283) came from behind to win the team title with a 572 composite, two shots better than Detroit Mercy (294-280). Holy Cross dropped to fourth place at 578 (283-295).
Detroit's Jonathan Brillati finished with a 2-under 138 to claim medalist honors. Brillati held off Bucknell's Peter Bradbeer and a host of other challengers. Bradbeer (69-71) was one of four players to finish at even par, joining Delaware's Roberto Nieves, Holy Cross' Collin Fitzpatrick, and Monmouth's Ron Robinson.
Bradbeer's runner-up finish was the best of his collegiate career. Chris Tanabe (69-73) also finished in the top 10 (T-8th) for the Bison. Blake Wisdom and Jackson Bussell both closed with 75s for Bucknell, followed by Jason Lohwater with a 77.
Three Bison played as individuals. Josh Holtschlag and Dylan Ford both shot 74, followed by Jack Gardner with a 75. Gardner was the top overall finisher among that trio after shooting 73 on Sunday.
Bucknell has one more fall event remaining on the schedule. The Bison will play at the Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club this Friday and Saturday.
