Baseball Releases 2019 Schedule

LEWISBURG, Pa.—The Bucknell University baseball team opens with yet another challenging start to the season as the 2019 schedule was unveiled by Head Coach Scott Heather.
The Bison's schedule is highlighted by trips to Raleigh, N.C., Spartanbug, S.C., Kissimmee, Fla., and Port Charlotte, Fla. for nonconference matchups.
The Bison will also host Niagara (3/1-3/3), Saint Joseph's (3/12), Binghamton (4/3), and La Salle (4/24) in nonconference games.
Rounding out the Bison's non-Patriot League matchups are away dates at St. Bonaventure (3/19), Villanova (3/26), Penn State (4/2), Towson (4/9), and Mount St. Mary's (4/23).
Bucknell will open the season at NC State on February 15 for a three-game set Friday through Sunday. The Wolfpack went 42-18 last season and hosted a Regional in last season's NCAA Baseball Championship.
The Bison will then make the trip to Spartanburg, S.C. on February 22-24 for games against Wofford, USC Upstate, and Pittsburgh.
The Terriers finished third in the Socon last season with a 36-23 record overall, and posted a 25-8 record at home last season.
Pittsburgh, as a 12 seed in last year's ACC Championships, won its pool after defeating Georgia Tech and no. 1 seed North Carolina to reach last season's semifinal round. The Panthers finished 29-26 overall.
The Orange and Blue will take Depew Field for the first time in March with a three-game series against Niagara on March 1-3 before hosting Saint Joseph's on March 5.
Bucknell's then heads to Kissimmee, Fla. For two games against Toledo on March 9-10 before moving south to Port Charlotte, Fla. For games against Saint Joseph's, and Seton Hall from March 11-12.
The Pirates went 30-20-1 last season and fell to no. 1 seed St. John's in the Big East Championship last season.
Bucknell's non-conference opponents before beginning league play combined for a win percentage of .529 and a 227-202-2 record in 2018.
Bucknell begins Patriot League play and a season-high ten-game road slate on March 16 with four games in Annapolis against Navy on March 16-17.
The Bison then will face St. Bonaventure on March 19 before taking on Army March 23 and Holy Cross on March 24 for two games each. A trip to Villanova on March 26 concludes the Bucknell road trip.
The Bison's first three conference opponents all made the four-team field in last season's Patriot League Tournament.
Bucknell's home Patriot League series are against Army March 30-31, Holy Cross 4/13-14, a single game versus Navy on 4/17, Lafayette 4/27, and Lehigh 4/28 to close the regular season.
