Men's Track and Field Prepares for Scarlet and White Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa.--Â The Bucknell men's track and field team will look to build momentum just a little over two weeks away from the Patriot League Indoor Championships when it travels to the Scarlet and White Invitational at Boston University on Saturday, Feb. 2.Â

- The Bison participated in two meets last weekend, hosting the Bison Open and Multi while another set of athletes attended the Penn State National Open.Â
- Against stiff competition at Penn State, there were several impressive performances.Â
- Sean Conway recorded the highest individual finish of the day for the men, finishing sixth in the 600 with a time of 1:20.66.Â
- Owen Chase and Nick Pacelli each finished in the top ten in the 1000, with Chase earning a personal- best in the process. Chase's time of 2:31.42 was over three seconds faster than his 2:34.13 that he ran at the Gulden Invitational on Jan. 19. Chase was seventh in the event, while Pacelli was close behind in ninth place coming in at 2:33.35.Â
- Owen Concaugh rounded out the top-ten finishes for the Bison on Saturday, finishing seventh in a personal-best time of 1:55.21. Brett Zatlin finished 12th in the event after crossing the line at 1:55.98, eclipsing his previous personal-best by .01.Â
- In the field, Matt Fay and Nicholas Marino took fourth and fifth, respectively, in the pole vault. Fay tied his personal-best after clearing 16-4 ¾, the second-highest mark in school history.Â
- Fay earned his second Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week award for his efforts at the Penn State National Open. Â
- Reggie Harris qualified for finals in the triple jump, posting a 46-10 ¼ in the triple jump to earn a fifth place finish.  Â
- Jeff Brown qualified for the semifinals in the 60, running a 6.88 in the first round before running a 6.93 in the semis to just miss a spot in the finals. Brown would also return to Lewisburg on Saturday to claim a win in the 60 (6.89).  Â
- At the Bison Open, Billy Melchionni earned a second-place finish in the 200 after running a 22.56, while Matthew Barton finished third in the 60 hurdles after crossing the line at 8.42.  Â
- Carson Etnyre finished third in the 500 with a 1:06.33, while Michael Gertz finished third in the 800 after running a 2:00.01.Â
- The Bison finished fourth out of 16 teams in last season's edition of the Scarlet and White Invitational.Â
- Jake Stupak earned a sixth-place finish in the mile with a time of 4:06.25, his best time to date and the fourth-best mark in Bucknell history.Â
- Melchionni also set a new personal-best at the meet, clocking in a 21.8 in the 200 that is tied for third place on Bucknell's all-time list with recent Bucknell Hall of Fame Inductee Noel Powell.Â
- Alex Dessoye ran a then personal-best in the 400 with a 48.74.Â
