Bucknell Beat Cornell and Richmond Over the Weekend
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell field hockey had two impressive non-conference wins over the weekend and was rewarded for its efforts with three weekly awards from the Patriot League on Monday. Katie Mannino was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week, Lexi Quick was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week, and Olivia Harris was selected as the Goalkeeper of the Week.
Mannino scored a goal in each game to help Bucknell record home wins over Cornell and Richmond. Both scores came on rebounds as she scored the fourth goal of a 5-0 win over the Big Red on Friday, and tallied the game-tying goal midway through the second half of a 2-1, double-overtime win over the Spiders on Sunday.
Quick totaled two goals and an assist on the weekend, starting with a goal and an assist while also contributing defensively toward the shutout in the win over Cornell. She then came through with a highlight-reel goal with a deke and shot from the top of the arc with 2:51 left in double overtime against Richmond.
Harris was nearly flawless while allowing just one goal over two games. Against the Big Red, she stopped all seven shots she faced to pick up her first shutout and first win. She then stopped four shots while playing 87:09 to get the win against Richmond. The Bison played much of the game shorthanded due to four green card penalties.
Bucknell (2-2) is back at Graham Field for its next game as it hosts Lock Haven for a non-conference matchup on Friday at 4 p.m.
