Women’s Golf Finishes 14th at Nittany Lion Invitational

FINAL RESULTS
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Bucknell women's golf squad wrapped up a solid weekend with a 316 team score on Sunday to finish 14th in a strong field at Penn State's Nittany Lion Invitational. Katie Childers led the way with a 5-over-par 77 in the final round, while Casey Morrow and Meredith Langs added 79s.
The Bison posted team totals of 308 and 309 on Saturday, and they counted at least three scores in the 70s in all three rounds. With a 933 total, Bucknell defeated Yale and Ohio, while finishing seven shots behind 13th-place Akron.
Penn State came from four shots back at the start of the day to tie 36-hole leader Washington, and then the Nittany Lions won the team title based on fifth-player score. The hosts shot a 9-under 279 on Sunday, compared to the Huskies' 283. Rutgers, Seton Hall, Xavier and Navy rounded out the top five.
Childers (74-79-77) and Morrow (76-75-79) were the low Bison starters over 54 holes at 230 total. They finished in a tie for 45th place. Langs' 79 on Sunday was her best of the weekend, while Erin Holmes and Sun Woo Jeon both finished with 81. Holmes posted a career-best 75 in the second round.
Sally Sohn, playing as an individual, wrapped up a strong weekend with a 76 after posting 75-79 a day earlier. Sohn, a freshman, joined Childers and Morrow at 230.
Sarah Willis, a Penn State individual participant, ran away with medalist honors. Willis shot an 11-under 205 (68-70-67) to set school and tournament records while topping Maeve Rossi of Rutgers and Cara Basso of Penn State by eight shots.
The Bison host their annual fall invitational next Saturday and Sunday at the Bucknell Golf Club.
