Cross Country Wins Three Weekly Awards from Patriot League

The Bison Men Won One and the Women Won Two

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell men's and women's cross country had three runners earn weekly awards from the Patriot League on Tuesday after a solid showing at the Detroit Mercy Invite this past weekend. The Bison men, which won the team title at the event, were represented by Brendan O'Toole as the Patriot League Male Rookie of the Week. For the women, Payton Capes was selected as the Female Runner of the Week and Emily Deschler was named the Female Rookie of the Week.

O'Toole helped the Bucknell men win the team title by taking eighth overall out of 85 runners with a time of 20:52 on the four-mile course. The freshman was sixth amongst scored runners.

Capes was the top finisher for the Bucknell women for the second straight week, taking fourth out of 68 runners. She completed the 5k course in 18:12. Deschler just missed placing in the top 10, finishing 11^th with a time of 18:45.

Bucknell will have the next weekend off before competing at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown, hosted by Boston College, on Friday, Sept. 21.
