Men's Water Polo Caps 3-0 Day with 14-7 Win over No. 15 Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Junior All-American Rade Joksimovic netted six more goals, giving him 18 in three games on the opening day of the 2018 season, and the 20th-ranked Bucknell men's water polo team capped off a 3-0 day with a resounding 14-7 win over host Brown at the Bruno Classic on Saturday night. Sophomore Jared Stanley also scored a half-dozen goals to set a new career high, as the Bison broke open a close game by outscoring the No. 15 Bears by a 10-3 margin over the middle two quarters.
Marko Djordjevic added a goal and three assists, Logan Schofield scored once for the Bison, and Jack Otto made eight saves in goal.Â
Joksimovic, who had nine goals against MIT and three against Austin College earlier in the day, was once again the story in this one. He had a hand in 11 of the team's 14 tallies, picking up five assists to go with his six goals. The season is just one day old, but Joksimovic already has 25 points on 18 goals and seven assists.Â
It was a 2-2 game at the start of the second period when Cooper Dolan drew an early exclusion, which led to a Djordjevic man-up tally. That ignited a decisive 5-0 run, with Stanley tallying three of those goals and Schofield another in a span of just over three minutes. Joksimovic and Stanley then accounted for all five third-quarter goals as Bucknell built its lead to as many as eight goals at 12-4 with 3:27 to go in the period.Â
Bucknell wraps up play at the Bruno Classic on Sunday with games against St. Francis Brooklyn at 9:15 a.m. and Pepperdine at 2 p.m. The contests will be streamed on the subscription-based ESPN+.Â
