Men's Track and Field Edges Lehigh for Title at Bucknell Tune-Up

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Competing for the final time before the Patriot League Championships, the Bucknell men's indoor track and field team earned six first-place finishes and edged Lehigh by a mere 1.5 points for the team title at the Bucknell Tune-Up on Friday evening at Gerhard Fieldhouse.
The Bison picked up big points in the 800-meter run, sweeping the top three places. Scott Gulizio led the pack in an IC4A-qualifying standard of 1:56.09. Teammates Brendan McGill (1:56.66) and Owen Concaugh (1:56.70) finished second and third, respectively.
Bucknell went 1-2 in the 500 meters. Charlie Scales earned the victory, clocking in a time of 1:08.12. Sam Huslin was the runner-up with a time of 1:11.30.
Nick Pacelli showed off his speed in the 1,000-meter run, finishing first with an IC4A-qualifying time of 2:29.36. William Melchionni sped to the finish line first in the 400-meter dash in 50.63.
C.J. Falcioni and Micah Simms scored victories in field events. Falcioni won the weight throw with an IC4A-qualifying toss of 56-00 ½, and he also finished third in the shot put with a mark of 47-5 ¾. Sims claimed the long jump with a top leap of 21-11 ½.
Nicholas Marino also had a strong night, setting a new personal best in the pole vault, clearing 16-0 ¾ in a runner-up finish while moving into a tie for third with Matthew Fay on Bucknell's all-time top-10 list.
Ryquan Harris finished second in the 200m dash with an IC4A-standard 22.56.
Bucknell also scored a runner-up finish in the 4x400-meter relay, with Scales, Concaugh, Gulizio and Brendan McGill posting a time of 3:34.52.
Bucknell compiled 165.5 points to nose out Lehigh (164) for the team title. Indiana (Pa.) was a distant third with 58 points.
The Patriot League Indoor Championships are set for Feb. 17-18 at Bucknell's Gerhard Fieldhouse. The Bison will be seeking their first title since 2012.
