
Women's Water Polo Edged by No. 25 Marist, 7-6, at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Bucknell women's water polo team overcame a four-goal deficit to pull within one, but No. 25 Marist held on to score a 7-6 victory at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday at DeNunzio Pool.
By halftime, the Red Foxes (2-7, 0-0 MAAC) had built a 5-1 advantage. The Bison (6-3, 0-0 CWPA) went on to score five of the next seven goals, using a 3-0 run that stretched from 1:50 of the third quarter to 3:49 of the fourth to make it a one-goal game.
After Kali Hyham's power-play strike drew Bucknell within one, the Marist defense didn't allow another shot on net.
Hyham (2g), Nina Benson (1g-2a) and Emily Konishi (2a) had multi-point outings. With her two helpers, Konishi moved into eighth in school history with 115 in her career.
Hyham also drew a team-high four ejections while four Bison registered at least two steals. In net, Manuela Herrera made four saves.
Bucknell continues Princeton Invitational play tomorrow by facing No. 15 Wagner at 10:30 a.m. and the Chinese National Team in an exhibition contest at 2:15 p.m.
