LEWISBURG, Pa. – Three Bucknell field hockey players were voted to the All-Mideast Region Second Team, which was released by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on Monday. Senior Lexi Quick, junior Olivia Harris, and junior Brittany Willwerth all earned the honor for the first time.
The three All-Region selections are the most for Bucknell since having three make the team in 2000. It was the second most of the seven Patriot League teams, trailing only Boston University's four honorees.
Quick, a two-time First Team All-Patriot League defender for the Bison, did it all for Bucknell this year. Offensively, she was tied for the team lead with seven goals, was second with six assists, second in points with 20, and second in game-winning goals with two. Defensively, she helped her team finish second in the Patriot League with 1.72 goals allowed per game.
Harris is the first Bucknell goalkeeper to earn All-Region status since Liz Jordan in 2005. The First Team All-Patriot League player recorded a league-best three shutouts and ranked second in the conference with a .735 save percentage. She was a two-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week this season, the second of which came after she made nine saves in a 3-2 win over a VCU team that entered as the fifth-highest scoring team in the nation.
Willwerth was well on her way to an All-Region-caliber season last year before suffering an injury. The forward played all 18 games this year and led the team in goals (7), assists (8), points (22), and game-winning goals (3). She had a few huge performances in league play, posting a hat-trick against Colgate, a program-record tying three assists against Lafayette, and two goals against Lehigh. Willwerth was voted First Team All-Patriot League following the regular season.
The Bison finished 10-8 overall, 4-2 in the Patriot League, and qualified for the conference tournament for the 11th consecutive season.
