The Junior Scored 19 Points on 7-of-9 Shooting
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Bucknell women's basketball improved to 2-0 at Brown University's Turkey Tip-Off behind Ellie Mack's 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting in a 77-54 win over Fairfield on Saturday at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
The Bison, who opened the tournament with a 77-58 win over UMass on Friday, improved to 4-2 on the season. They can clinch the tournament title with a win over Brown in the final game on Sunday at 1 p.m. Fairfield fell to 2-3 overall.
Ten players scored for Bucknell, which shot 55 percent (29-53) from the field. Sophomore Abby Kapp scored in double-figures for the second time in as many days with 12 points. Seniors Kaitlyn Slagus and Kate Walker scored nine points apiece, while senior Kyi English and sophomore Ally Johnson each added seven.
Mack stuffed the stat sheet in her 22 minutes on the court, totaling seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Bucknell started fast again, jumping out to a 24-15 lead after one quarter just one day after scoring 28 in the opening quarter against UMass. And it was Kapp that again sparked the offense early, hitting two 3-pointers and scoring eight points one day after she scored 11 in the first quarter against the Minutewomen.
Mack factored in on five of the team's nine field goals in the first quarter, scoring two buckets and assisting on three others. Johnson had five points in the first 10 minutes of play.

Any comeback thoughts for Fairfield were dashed when Bucknell went on a 7-0 run in just 1:10 to go up 52-35 early in the second half. Kapp and Mack hit back-to-back layups before Mack drained a 3-pointer. Walker had assists on two of those plays and on three of the team's first four field goals in the half. She matched a career-high with six assists in the game.
The Bison finished with 14 assists to 10 turnovers. Defensively, they tallied nine steals for the second straight game and have now had at least nine steals in five of the first six games. Sophomore Autumn Ceppi had two in addition to one block.
Khadidiatou Diouf had a solid game for Fairfield, finishing with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Katie Armstrong also had 16 points.
