Field Hockey Falls to American 1-0 in Patriot League Semifinal Game

The Bison Were in the PL Tournament for the 11th Straight Year
BOSTON, Mass. – Another successful Bucknell field hockey season came to a close Friday with a 1-0 loss to American in the semifinal round of the Patriot League Tournament. The third-seeded Bison and second-seeded Eagles played at Boston University's New Balance Field.
Aidan Rossman scored the game-winner for American with 19:13 to play in the second half. It was her fourth goal of the season.
Despite the loss, junior goalkeeper Oliva Harris had a great game, stopping five shots. Earlier this season she made a career-high 10 saves in a 1-0 overtime loss to American.
The teams had a defensive battle in the first half with American taking two shots and Bucknell just one. Both teams had one shot on goal.
The action picked up in the second half. The Eagles took 10 shots, including, five on goal, while the Bison took seven, including three on goal.
Brittany Willwerth, Lexi Quick, Claire Lesher, and Leah Fogelsanger had shots on goal for the Bison.
Bucknell closed the season at 10-8 overall and played in the Patriot League Tournament for the 11th straight season. The Bison had five players – Willwerth, Quick, Harris, Sarah Dimock, and Sally Olson – voted All-Patriot League this season. They had three players – Nicole Rupnik, Marisa Morakis, and Quick – make the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
American improved to 9-8 and will play top-seeded Boston University in the championship game on Sunday. The Terriers beat fourth-seeded Lafayette 2-1 in the semifinal round.
