LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior defender Tyler Peterson has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in his career in addition to being selected as the Bison Athlete of the Week.
Peterson was superb in Bucknell's two Patriot League wins on the road at Loyola and an overtime win at home vs. Holy Cross on Sunday, both by 1-0 scores. The two clean sheets mark the fourth and fifth time this season that the Bison have shut out an opponent.
Peterson made two goal-line saves to keep the opposition out of the goal, one in each contest.
Peterson also supplied the game-winning goal at Loyola after calmly converting a penalty kick in the second half for his third goal of the season.
The Bison have tallied three clean sheets in their first four games in Patriot League competition, which has led to a 3-0-1 start. The ten points through four games is the Bison's best four-game start to a Patriot League campaign since the 2003 season.
Bucknell currently sits second in the Patriot League standings, two points behind league-leading Lehigh.
Peterson and the Bucknell men's soccer team return to action at home on Saturday against Colgate. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
