About the Bison

Bucknell is back in action for its fourth of five fall tournaments. The Bison are spending Fall Break at the famed Pinehurst Resort, where they will play Pinehurst No. 6 along with 16 other teams. Bucknell is the only team in the field from north of the Mason-Dixon line.
Bucknell will play in foursomes along with James Madison, William & Mary and Presbyterian. Casey Morrow, Katie Childers, Sally Sohn, Erin Holmes, and Meredith Langs comprise this week's lineup, with Morgan Hennessy playing as an individual.
Bucknell is coming off a third-place finish at its own Bucknell Invitational on Sept. 29-30. After a slow start, the Bison finished with a 299 team score, That is the seventh-best round in school history and the best since a 298 at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate on Feb. 27, 2012. The 929 total is tied for the fourth-best team score in program history and best since a 927 at the 2016 Patriot League Championship at the Bucknell Golf Club.
The Bison have now posted 309 or better four times this fall and are averaging 311.7, down from 325.4 over the full 2017-18 season. In five fall events last season, the Bison combined for 28 scores in the 70s. Already this season, they have 29 rounds in the 70s in three tournaments.
Childers and Morrow share the team lead with a 76.0 scoring average, followed by the freshman Sohn at 79.9. Sohn and Holmes both recorded personal bests with 74s last time out.

The Bison at the Pinehurst Challenge

This will be Bucknell's fourth appearance at the Pinehurst Challenge, but the first in the fall edition of the event. The Bison played at the famed Pinehurst Resort in March of 2008, 2014 and 2018.
The Bison finished seventh among eight teams here last spring at Pinehurst No. 8, battling tough weather and course conditions en route to rounds of 352-351-346.
In 2008 at Pinehurst No. 8, the Bison shot 328-335-326 and placed 21st. Emily Chiodo and Katie Jurenovich had the team's low rounds with 79s.
In 2014 at Pinehurst No. 1, Bucknell finished T-12th with rounds of 327-317 in a rain-shortened event. Lauren Bernard's 3-over 75 in round two was the team's best, followed by Bridget Wilcox with a 78.
Last fall, East Carolina won its second straight title at the event, shooting a 17-under par 847 at the No. 1 course. Coastal Carolina was tournament runner-up (-9) and Old Dominion third (-5). Defending individual champion Valentina Giraldo of Jacksonville State (-8) claimed medalist honors in the fall 2017 tournament with a one-stroke victory over runner-up Malene Krolboll Hansen of Coastal Carolina (-7).
