Three Bison Field Hockey Players Named Academic All-Patriot League

Rupnik, Morakis, and Quick All Earn the Academic Honor
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Three Bucknell field hockey players were named to the Academic All-Patriot League on Wednesday. Nicole Rupnik earned the honor for the third straight year, Marisa Morakis received the award for the second time, and Lexi Quick made her first appearance on the list. The three honorees was tied for the most in the conference.
Rupnik has been one of the team's top performers in the classroom in all four of her years at Bucknell, including two NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honors for posting a perfect 4.0 GPA during the competition season. A biology major on a pre-vet track with a 3.91 GPA, the senior is a three-time member of both the NFHCA National Academic Squad and the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. Recently, Rupnik has spent her time researching meta cognition in capuchins at Bucknell's primate lab.
Rupnik ranks third on the team with 14 points on six goals and two assists this season. She recently moved into a tie for 10th on the program's all-time list with her 25th career goal. She also has five career assists to give her a total of 55 points.
Morakis, a biomedical engineering major with a 3.98 GPA, has made the Academic All-Patriot League Team in each of her two seasons of eligibility. The junior is a two-time NFHCA Scholar of Distinction for posting a 4.0 GPA during the competition season, a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, and a two-time member of the NFHCA National Academic Squad. This past summer she spent three weeks in Ghana as part of a Bucknell engineering class.
Morakis played all 17 games during the regular season, including eight as a starter, and registered a pair of assists. Both assists came in wins, including a 3-1 victory over Holy Cross that clinched the team's 11th straight appearance in the Patriot League Tournament.
Quick, a managing for sustainability major with a 3.55 GPA, made the Academic All-Patriot League for the first time and possesses an impressive resume that combines both academic and athletic accomplishments. The senior is a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and the NFHCA National Academic Squad. This past summer she completed an internship with HBO, doing work with college recruitment in the company's human resources office. Additionally, Quick has done volunteer work with the Connecticut Food Bank and with Luzerne County Head Start.
The academic honor comes just one day after Quick was voted First Team All-Patriot League for the second straight year. She ranks second on the team with 20 points on seven goals and six assists. She also helped the Bison defense allow the second-lowest goals per game in the conference.
Bucknell enters the conference tournament as the No. 3 seed and will take on second-seeded American in the semifinal round Friday. The game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., at Boston University's New Balance Field.
