It's the Program's Most Honorees Since 2012
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell field hockey had five players earn All-Patriot League honors, which were released by the conference office on Tuesday. Brittany Willwerth, Lexi Quick, and Olivia Harris all received First Team recognition, while Sally Olson and Sarah Dimock were voted to the Second Team.
Bucknell tied with American for the most All-Patriot League players in the conference. The five honorees were the Bison's most since 2012.
Willwerth, a junior forward, picked up her third straight All-Patriot League honor after making the Second Team as a freshman and sophomore. She leads the team with 22 points and shares the team lead with seven goals. She ranks third in the Patriot League in points and fourth in goals.
Willwerth tallied 15 points and five goals in six league games, including seven points with a hat-trick and one assist in a win over Colgate. In the team's final league game – a 4-1 win over Lafayette – she tied a program record with three assists. Counting the two awards she won this season, Willwerth is a four-time Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week.
Quick, a senior back, is now a two-time First Team All-Patriot League selection. She was voted Defensive Player of the Week three times this season thanks to her versatility on both ends of the field. A key part of the team's penalty corner offense, she is second on the team in points with 20 and tied for first with seven goals.
Quick had two clutch plays late in a pair of non-conference wins. She scored the game-winner with 2:51 left in double overtime of a 2-1 victory over Richmond. The very next game, she assisted on Nicole Rupnik's game-winning goal with 1:12 remaining in regulation of a 3-2 win over Lock Haven.
Olivia Harris waited patiently for her turn as Bucknell's starting goalie and took full advantage of that opportunity in her junior season, landing her first All-Patriot League honor. Her 10 wins entering the postseason are tied for the sixth most in program history. She recorded shutouts against Cornell, Colgate and Yale.
The best performance of the season by Harris may have come in a losing effort. She made a career-high 10 saves in a 1-0 overtime loss to American. That eclipsed her previous career-high of nine saves in a 3-2 win over VCU earlier in the season.
Olson moved to the center back position this year and continued Bucknell's tradition of solid play from that position, making the Second Team in her final season with the Bison. She earned the conference's Defensive Player of the Week award after recording an assist and leading the defensive effort in a 6-0 win over Colgate this season. She led the charge as the Bison allowed just 1.76 goals per game and added nine points on three goals and three assists.
Dimock had a breakout year in her sophomore season with the Bison, earning Second Team recognition. She contributed all over the field from her spot at midfielder for Bucknell and her lone goal was a big one. She scored in a 3-1 win at Holy Cross to help her team clinch an 11th-straight appearance in the Patriot League Tournament.
Bucknell enters the conference tournament as the No. 3 seed and will take on second-seeded American in the semifinal round Friday. The game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Boston University's New Balance Field.
